OUR Story: From the prisons to the classrooms.

Born and raised in the Childs Park community on the Southside of St. Petersburg, Florida, Deonte Thompson is no stranger to overcoming challenges. In Elementary school, he could barely read and was placed in a learning disability class. Determined to prove teachers wrong, he used his summer vacations reading books in order to improve. Not only did he improve but he quickly became one of the strongest readers in the class. He learned a valuable lesson that hard work, determination and sacrifice are important ingredients for success. He used the same process at Boca Ciega High School where he attended school year-round and graduated at the age of 16 years old. Shortly after graduation, he went on to earn his degree in Electrical Engineering at Florida A&M University and began working at a technology corporation in Austin, TX. Thompson has worked in the technology field for the last 21 years and is currently the Sr. Director of Software and Transformation at Dell Technologies.
Thompson began traveling to different prisons and youth jails in Texas in 2004. After witnessing young people who had lost their hopes and dreams, in 2008, he started a non-profit organization called the Dreamfaith Foundation. He had a vision to see a world where all dreams are fulfilled. His organization provides youth conferences, scholarships, mentoring and STEAM workshops to youth in underserved communities. It is his passion to spread a positive message of hope and empowerment to the world.
